In 1948 the Prior of the Carthusian Monastery on the breathtaking Italian island of Capri, discovered a volume of historic perfume formulas dating back to a time when the monks living there began to discover the exquisite aromatics of the herbs and blossoms on the island. With the Pope's consent, the formulas were revived by a local chemist and developed into a unique range of fragrances called Carthusia.
Today, Carthusia continues to practice its centuries-old knowledge, and has an indivisible bond with Capri – the result of zealous and professional research into components derived exclusively from Capri’s environment.
